The ceramic tiles have been given a smooth and extra ‘fat’ glazing in order to reflect the light and feel smooth to the touch
I wanted to soften the long wall and achieved this by creating an undulated geometric pattern which is deeply rooted in traditional Maori weaving; a subtle three dimensional presence that would visually change dependent on the angle it was viewed from.
Working with Tempio was a joy, and we felt like the company cared about the integrity of the design as much as we did. Tempio worked with us to optimize the facade panels, and make sure the colors and affect we had imagined could be produced.
