Project
DEA Department of Environmental Affairs

Location
South Africa

Energy efficiency, especially in public buildings such as the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA), is one of the minimum requirements that are taken into account today before starting any project. In this particular, it was necessary to set an example of energy sustainability and awareness, since it was the Department of Environmental Affairs of South Africa.

The architects decided to cover the building with a ceramic ventilated façade due to the many advantages that this material provides. It creates an air chamber between the wall and the exterior ceramic, generating an energy saving of 25-40%, in addition to providing the building with an excellent acoustic insulation and eliminating surface condensation water. In addition, its natural red color gives the building a warm and unique appearance.
